- A guided tour of the 2012 Honda CR-VThe Honda CR-V's popularity is not in question. Consistently one of the best-selling (if not THE best-selling) compact SUVs year in and year out, the CR-V has also been a steady reviewer favorite. At the end of 2011, the latest iteration of this model landed in showrooms. We spent some time with it ourselves, and can say without hesitation that the CR-V […]
- Why you shouldn't diet like a celebrityWhile researching our report on the best weight-loss programs, we learned that the key to keeping weight off is making sustainable, long-term changes. If you don't address -- and adjust -- the habits that put the weight on in the first place, it'll just come right back. Still, it's hard to resist the lure of celebrity diets, plans that promise […]
- Facebook's new Timeline and Open Graph apps: How to protect your privacyLove it or hate it, if you're a Facebook user, the new past-sharing visual Timeline (which replaces your profile page) is in your future. - When it comes to tech, it's cool to be practicalCovering consumer electronics means wading through a lot of "ooh, shiny!" devices and "game-changing" innovations, many of which quickly fall by the wayside, replaced by something shinier and cooloer. - House plants you can't killEven with the pleasantly warm weather this week in New York City (thanks global warming), it's hard not to long for a little green right about now. - Phish of the day: Beware tax-season email scamsIf you've noticed an uptick of spam in your junk mail folder lately, you're not alone. Scammers go into overtime around the holidays and into tax season, aiming to trick you into forking over personal information. These email sneak-attacks are called "phishing" and it's nothing new. What is new this year is that a lot of the bogus em […]
- A new and (p)interesting way to shop onlineJust a year ago when I was moving into my first apartment, my cousin sent me an invite to a site she thought could help me shop for my new digs: Pinterest. - Are you buying a big-screen TV for the big game?Over the years, the Super Bowl has grown from just being a game for all the marbles at the end of the NFL season to a near-universal day of celebration and parties that even non-fans can enjoy. - Hands-on with four good, cheap new carsI get to drive a lot of different cars throughout the year, and they run the gamut from Powerball-winner hardware to basic, affordable transportation. This is good news if you want to buy a new car but have a modest […]

- Can you trust online reviews? The issue of fake user reviews is nothing new. We blogged about it back in 2009 after a Wall Street Journal article exposed the practice by certain companies of having employees post favorable write ups to user-review sites, such as Amazon.com. - DOT tries to put the "fair" in airfare pricingEarlier this week I booked a flight from New York to Miami. Even though JetBlue only flies to the nearby Fort Lauderdale, I couldn't pass up the advertisement in an e-mail sent to me: Book Today, $89 each way from JFK. When I went online to look up fares, I did not see that fantastic rate; instead the fares were through the roof with the flights I want […]

Review by M. Creech for RayShade® UV Protective Stroller Shade Improves Sun Protection for Strollers, Joggers and Prams Black
Rating:
I really like my stroller, but the canopy is very small and my baby is very, very fair. I thought about buying a new stroller with a fancy canopy, but decided to try this first.
It did take some time to figure out the best way to attach it to the stroller. But now that I know how to get it on (so that I can still collapse the stroller), it is very easy to use. The material is very stretchy and it easily covers my Peg Perego Aria stroller. If anything, it is a bit too long. I really like the fact that it offers side protection too. It rolls up into a small little pouch too.
My only complaint is that on windy days the lightweight canopy can blow upward, let the sun hit baby. I’m thinking about sewing a little weight into the top of it.

Pros:
Self contained pocket
Cons:
Doesn’t get the job done when it’s windy
Summary:
I’d previously purchased a similar cover by Protect-a-bub, but decided to try this model because it cost half the price. In this case I got what I paid for–the ‘tent rod’ that is inside the front rim of the shade is too thin and doesn’t keep the shade in place when there’s wind. In contrast, the protect-a-bub model has a slightly thicker ‘tent rod’ in the rim, just enough to make it a little more stable in the wind.

We bought this at BRU before our trip to FL for a week vacation at the theme parks. We used this shade the entire trip (5 straight days of morning to night theme parks!) and he didn’t get one ounce of sun! I loved this shade. I found it easy to fold, easy to open, easy to lower. It did blow around in the wind, but then I realized if you just attach the lower straps as far down as possible on the stroller, it doesn’t do this. It was great for naptime, because we’d just pull the shade all the way down and it would cover up his feet and keep it dark in there…yet cool. I totally recommend this shade if you are going anywhere with a baby and need coverage from the sun!

I love to take long walks with my son. It was difficult to do that during the summer with only the shade of his car seat. This ray shade came in handy and I plan to use it with my stroller when he is ready for it. It is very easy to attach and take off. Just be sure to close the velcro tabs after use or they can ruin the material of the shade-if they get stuck to it. It happened to me the first time I put it away.

I’m a runner and there is a huge lack of stroller’s that come with large canopy’s that actually block your child from the sun’s harmful rays. This sun shade makes a world of difference. I can go running in the morning with my son in tow and not have to worry about him getting a sun burn or having the sun in his eyes. It’s one of the most valuable products that I’ve purchased sinced my son was born.
