- A guided tour of the 2012 Honda CR-VThe Honda CR-V's popularity is not in question. Consistently one of the best-selling (if not THE best-selling) compact SUVs year in and year out, the CR-V has also been a steady reviewer favorite. At the end of 2011, the latest iteration of this model landed in showrooms. We spent some time with it ourselves, and can say without hesitation that the CR-V […]
- Why you shouldn't diet like a celebrityWhile researching our report on the best weight-loss programs, we learned that the key to keeping weight off is making sustainable, long-term changes. If you don't address -- and adjust -- the habits that put the weight on in the first place, it'll just come right back. Still, it's hard to resist the lure of celebrity diets, plans that promise […]

- When it comes to tech, it's cool to be practicalCovering consumer electronics means wading through a lot of "ooh, shiny!" devices and "game-changing" innovations, many of which quickly fall by the wayside, replaced by something shinier and cooloer. - House plants you can't killEven with the pleasantly warm weather this week in New York City (thanks global warming), it's hard not to long for a little green right about now. - Phish of the day: Beware tax-season email scamsIf you've noticed an uptick of spam in your junk mail folder lately, you're not alone. What is new this year is that a lot of the bogus em […]
- A new and (p)interesting way to shop onlineJust a year ago when I was moving into my first apartment, my cousin sent me an invite to a site she thought could help me shop for my new digs: Pinterest. - Are you buying a big-screen TV for the big game?Over the years, the Super Bowl has grown from just being a game for all the marbles at the end of the NFL season to a near-universal day of celebration and parties that even non-fans can enjoy. - Hands-on with four good, cheap new carsI get to drive a lot of different cars throughout the year, and they run the gamut from Powerball-winner hardware to basic, affordable transportation. This is good news if you want to buy a new car but have a modest […]

- Can you trust online reviews? The issue of fake user reviews is nothing new. We blogged about it back in 2009 after a Wall Street Journal article exposed the practice by certain companies of having employees post favorable write ups to user-review sites, such as Amazon.com. - DOT tries to put the "fair" in airfare pricingEarlier this week I booked a flight from New York to Miami. Even though JetBlue only flies to the nearby Fort Lauderdale, I couldn't pass up the advertisement in an e-mail sent to me: Book Today, $89 each way from JFK. When I went online to look up fares, I did not see that fantastic rate; instead the fares were through the roof with the flights I want […]

I just got this yesterday and I have to say it’s not as bulky as I would have thought and, like the other reviewer, protects like a tank. really nice case and well worth the $$.
to bad it didn’t come in different colors though, cammo would have been cool.

Pros:
*Fits well
*Keyboard slides fine
*Has perfect openings for switches, plugs and camera;
Cons:
*Prevents attachment to the Touchstone puck. Phone in this case slides right off, and even if you hold the phone on the puck, there’s no connection
*Near impossible to remove.
Not being an engineer, I don’t know if the magnetism is related to the electrical induction charge, but whether it is or not, the case inhibits the charge.

I rarely do reveiws, but I depend on them so heavily, so I decided to write one. This case is excellent. I have owned my pre for about 6 months, and have gone through 3 cases. The Suedio Innocase was first. It’s very thin, and very low profile, but the little clips broke in about 3 weeks. Then I went with the $5 special. That case was very thick, and the clips broke after a month or so. Third, the Otterbox. Here is what they don’t tell you on the product details. It has rubber on the left and right for grip, the rest is very hard plastic. Most cases you can’t get to the volume and power buttons, this case has built in rubber buttons that go over the volume and power so they are very easy to get to. The plastic feels much sturdier than other cases, and it has twice as many clips to hold it in place. It is slightly thicker than the Suedio, but not to thick. It also comes with a free screen cover, and for some reason, this one actually stays on. I am very pleased with this case, best case on the market for the Pre. Also, if you are trying to organzie your music, now that itunes doesn’t work, use Music Monkey, it’s perfect.

If this is the same otterbox that I bought directly from the otterbox website it rocks! I have only had it for about a week but i have looked for a pre case for months and months. The connection is clean and doesn’t come off with ease. It protects like a tank (dropped my phone two or three times since getting it).
The only problems I have have was the installation wasn’t that easy. It took me a bit to figure it out…directions didn’t help. Also the price. I paid quite a bit more than they are offering it for here on Amazon but in the end it is worth the $20 or so. Honestly, it is worth it.

Review by Stephen G. Ayres for Otterbox Plm6-Pre01-20-C50Tr Palm Pre /Pre Plus Tandem Case
Rating:
This is a tough protective shell designed to protect the PALM Pre Plus from damage from accidental dropping and sliding around on surfaces.
It adds a bit of bulk so if you love the sleeky-slimness of your new PALM, this may not be for you. I like it. I still carry it in my front jeans pocket with no problem. I like the rubberized sides which really do make a difference. This case makes it a phone you can actually grab and use and not be afraid to hand to someone else. It’s not going to accidentally slip out of your hand. Ever see a first-time user of a bare iPhone?
But if it does drop to the ground, it’s protected. Sides and back are fully armored and the face is protected to an extent by the raised edge around the top. So unless it lands on something protruding, the screen is protected. I didn’t use the included screen protector, instead I opted for the one sold by Skinomi. If you are going to use a screen protector like Skinomi or Zagg, apply the screen protector first (carefully centered, follow instructions), let it cure for a day before snapping on the Otterbox case.
I’m sure it was tough designing a protective shell case for this phone. If you have one, you know why. The sliding part would be difficult to deal with so I’m impressed with the engineering. I didn’t need instructions to attach this. It attaches to the phone’s respective halves by small precise gripper clips and basically snaps on. Removal requires the included plastic removal tool and to remove the Otterbox you slide the tool between the phone and case at the SIDE. Use gentle, careful patience and it will snap off.
It’s high quality and I can tell that I’m going to keep it on. It would be nice if it were TouchStone compatible, but I prefer a phone that I don’t have to worry about. They ALL eventually fall onto the pavement when you get out of your car.
